about

Constant technical and academic exploration during three years of research by musician, synthesist and composer Andrés Steiner, has led him to this point. The composer has been quietly creating all sorts of music while also academically studying it since the year: twenty-nineteen, only releasing a minuscule fraction of his musical compositions for others to hear. Music which was sometimes dark and sometimes calm, sounds which were harsh yet subtle; sounds and essence of musical genres ranging from harsh noise, ambient and drone, all in an eclectic fusion with different types of modular synthesis, computer softwares, analog hardware, electronics, MAX MSP and more conventional instrumentation.

Electro-Acoustic Oddities is an album informed by the use of field recordings, acoustic piano and acoustic guitar with digital sound processing of these instruments. Every single produced piece included as part of this album, is an abstract sound experience implementing various music philosophies, the abstraction of this project becomes clear through deep listening, this is music that completely ignores the grid of a digital audio work station, a metronome and time signatures in favour of creating music from improvised piano and guitar playing.

Performed and composed, later produced using synthesis knowledge, modern sound design techniques as well as a core implementation of electronic music and all its modern artistic sensibilities. The idea was subjectively simple, to create an album based upon the idea of the visceral essence of nature and all the perceived noise it creates. Ignoring conventional music scales in favour of a direct focus on harmonic content and timbre. The result is a collage of acoustic guitar and acoustic piano recorded at the: Catalyst institute for creative arts and technology; located inside Funkhaus Berlin. Field recordings which were recorded in South America and Europe, fused with digital processing post production, utilising a digital audio work station, to convert source material into a completely new and abstract auditory experience.
